I have created a new functionality to add to the Tinder App. With the feature «Alarm Button» people will be able to escape from their dates when they feel insecure, uncomfortable or not going as expected.
Thanks to the UX research we realized that there are problems that can be solved even if it is an app with a long history and popularity such as Tinder
Challenge
The UX research provided me with very valuable information and that is that 84% of the respondents claimed to have had problems in the dates. We did qualitative interviews and we ran into one main problem: «People feel insecure when they go to their Tinder date.»
I carried out the research tasks, studied the competition, defined the problem and based on Design Thinking and with the support of the tools (Empathy Map, Lean Ux Canvas, User Persona, Journey Map, User Flow …)
To develop the visual world, the current branding of the brand was taken into account.
What i do
The new Tinder feature is «Alarm Button» allows people who feel uncomfortable on their appointment to escape from it easily, quickly and without attracting attention. They receive a call that they can customize the name and the time to receive it.
The affected person will be able to choose a reason for leaving the date and select the «matche» with which they had the problem. In this way, Tinder can also have control of certain profiles that may be conflicting and take the appropriate measures so that its community can be calm.
Learning
When we started the project we believed that an App like Tinder did not lack any functionality. But little by little our beliefs collapsed when we started our UX research and we could be sure that something was not going well and it was a problem when using the App.
Finally, we were able to develop a new feature for the Tinder App that will provide users with peace of mind and security when they are having their dates and if something does not go well they can «escape» as quickly as possible from an uncomfortable situation.
